About Newport Country Club
Newport Country Club, founded in 1893 on the Rhode Island coast, stands as one of the most historically significant golf clubs in America as a founding member of the United States Golf Association. The club hosted both the inaugural U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur Championships in 1895, and its windswept seaside layout — originally designed by William Davis and later refined by A.W. Tillinghast — is complemented by a landmark 1895 Beaux-Arts clubhouse designed by Whitney Warren and Charles D. Wetmore.
